Meet Our Members

His first triathlon was in 1986 or ‘87 at Boonesboro. He already had a swimming background, and started running with a friend. It must have been a memorable bike ride because a train interrupted it!
George Van Meter has been charging forward ever since with marathons and triathlons. He says his best race was this year’s Ironman Louisville where he smoked the run, and won his age-group by a large margin. Wow! George says training, advice, and experience all came together that day, and now he’s punching his ticket for his first Ironman at Kona. George has inspired many of us to follow in his footsteps (although most of us can’t keep up). George says he enjoys the friends he trains with, and enjoys going to new places to compete. We’re proud to say George Van Meter signed on as one of our first, SBR of KY members, and has been a great customer and friend. George- we’ll be cheering you on from Kentucky as you make us proud at Kona. Good luck my friend!

$6,000 in Cash Prizes!

We're honored to announce the R.J. Corman Duathlon and 5K Run/Walk to benefit the Chrysalis House will be held Saturday, October 2nd. The winners, male and female, of both events, will EACH be awarded $1,000! In addition, everyone registered for both races, and present at the award ceremony, will be eligible for EIGHT $250 cash drawings! This is all possible thru the generosity of R.J. Corman and some wonderful sponsors. The duathlon will consist of a 5K run on Mr. Corman's property, a challenging 15-mile bike ride into Jessamine County, and a 5K run. Swim Bike Run of Kentucky, one the event sponsors, will award 2nd and 3rd place gift certificates.
